My best-selling book, 'The Accelerated Learning Pocketbook', has just been published in Slovakia.

The book has been translated into the Slovak language and is published by a local publisher in Bratislava, the capital of this beautiful central European country. The availability of the book to teachers in Slovakia is made possible thanks to a special arrangement with the UK publisher, Teachers' Pocketbooks.

The publication of this edition in the Slovak language further enhances the international appeal of my books for teachers and school leaders. Special editions of two of my pocketbooks were published in India in 2006, and my Creativity for Learning Series (jointly authored with Will Thomas) were launched in affordable local editions in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2007.

You can find out more about this and my other pocketbooks published in English and other languages by visiting www.teacherspocketbooks.co.uk.

NEWS ARCHIVE

Top ten resources accolade |  FEBRUARY 2009

The Creative Teaching & Learning Toolkit has been named in Headteacher Update as one of the top ten education resources for education professionals in the UK. The book, which I wrote jointly with Will Thomas, provides hundreds of ways to enliven lessons and teach more creatively. It is especially pleasing that this book has taken its place among the finest education resources of the last ten years, alongside other ground-breaking texts by nationally-recognised authors. Describing this list as the 'Best of the Bunch', education specialist Lisa Donegan based her selection on reader feedback and sales of the books. The Creative Teaching & Learning Toolkit forms part of my three volume Creativity for Learning series, published by Continuum. You can find out more about this series by visiting the website here.

Toolkit shortlisted for national award |  MARCH 2008

The Creative Teaching & Learning Toolkit has been shortlisted for an Education Resources Award, the most prestigious award scheme for education resources in the UK. It is the third time that my work has been short-listed for this award - and in 2005 the Teachers' Pocketbooks won this award in the Secondary Resources section. The Creative Teaching & Learning Toolkit, which I wrote jointly with Will Thomas, provides hundreds of ways to enliven lessons and teach more creatively. It forms part of my three volume Creativity for Learning series, published by Continuum. You can find out more about this series by visiting the website here.

Teachers' TV appearance |  JULY 2007

I will be featured in four films on Teachers' TV which are set to be aired in summer 2007. The programmes, which form part of the 'Follow the learner' series, use video clips from lessons to illustrate teaching points, with recommendations for actions to improve learning, provided by six consultants. The other consultants featured include a former headteacher, several education authors and the winner of the Teacher of the Year award, Phil Beadle. You can view the whole series, plus the programme where teachers from the participating school discuss the project, here.

p Times Educational Supplement feature |  SEPTEMBER 2005

The Head of Department's Pocketbook has been featured in a special article in the UK's top education newspaper, the TES. The article, which features quotes from myself and co-author Will Thomas, focusses on the importance of building an inspirational vision for your department, as well as other practical advice on leading learning in secondary schools. The feature comes after a series of superb reviews for the Pocketbook series in the TES and other education publications. You can read more about my pocketbooks here.

p Pocketbooks win top award |  MARCH 2005

Teachers' Pocketbooks have been anounced as a winner in the Education Resources Awards, the highest accolade for education resources in the UK. The Pocketbooks won in the Secondary Books category, with the award being presented in a glittering ceremony hosted by TV's Jenny Bond. As co-originator of the series, author of six Teachers' Pocketbooks and series consultant, this is very exciting development for me and well worth all the hard work that went into launching the series, and making it such a popular choice for teachers across the country. You can learn more about my pocketbooks for teachers here.
